Who is "we" you say...who is my human companion?? Yes, I know I forgot the word "companion" in my last post, but I did correct it.
Kylee and Jax were happy to have a fellow traveler, who would take them out super early in the morning for walks...that and Jax loved being his co-pilot too!
Yup, that's Jim driving the RV...can you see little red Sparky being towed behind in the back up camera?
Jim flew into Las Vegas on Tuesday. We spent the night roaming in and out of the casinos, but no matter how hard we tried, we could never come up with Triple 7's - in a row! Vegas took all of our gambling money - boo-hoo - but we did have a good time!
This is twice now, that Jim and I have seen the Eifel Tower, but have never left the country!
Even made it to Venice for a gondola ride - he sang for us too...aaawwwww!
Hoover Dam - Saw this monstrosity on Wednesday as we headed back to Bullhead City from Vegas. From the bridge looking down, it makes your head spin with dizziness.
What an amazing sight! Can't believe we were on top of that bridge looking down onto the dam - it is MASSIVE!
Thursday - My brother in law Joe took Jim to see the wild donkeys roaming Oatman and the bar with $1 bills all over the walls and the ceiling. For dinner, I made grandma's chicken 'n dumplings and Jim made tiramisu. Yum! I'm gonna miss Cindy and Laurie (and hubbies). It was nice being with my sisters again.
Friday we were on our way toward Texas
First Stop - GRAND CANYON - south rim
Some of these pictures look like they are a fake background, but I promise you, it is real. Spectacular!
Saturday - Tuscon, AZ
Spent the night at CT RV Resort - Southern Arizona's Premier RV Resort
Lots of pull throughs for over-night travelers, free dinner with 2 night stays, clean, level and nice spacing between campers.
Wanted to see Old Tuscon but they were closed for the season.
Jim found San Xavier Mission - unfortunately there was a funeral that day, so we could not go inside. However, we were able to light a candle in remembrance of our parents who had left this earth too early. We love and miss you!
Sunday - Las Cruces, NM Las Cruces, New Mexico Campground | Las Cruces KOA Journey
Spent the night at Las Cruces, New Mexico Campground | Las Cruces KOA Journey
Cute little campground, nice spacing between sites and level. Loved that it was up high looking down onto the city.
We figured the dogs needed to stretch their legs too, so found a Mexican restaurant in Old Mesilla that had an entire back patio dedicated to dogs dining with their families. It was very cool and both dogs were very well behaved during dinner.
Monday - We tried to see the Prehistoric Trackway Nat'l monument, however, it sent you down some single lane road then a dirt trail. It was sketchy with the camper and Sparky trailing behind, so left them parked on the paved road and hiked half a mile to the entrance. Realized it was a 2-mile hike to see the site where they found these historic footprints, but the prints themselves weren't there anymore, they were in a museum. So, we read all the signs near the entrance and were astounded that they could possibly figure out these things lived millions of years ago, even before dinosaurs...crazy! We piled back into the camper, our next attraction we were super excited for.
Carlsbad Caverns, New Mexico Carlsbad Caverns National Park (U.S. National Park Service) (nps.gov)
We took an elevator 750 feet down, and wow, was it so cool - both in temperature and in vision. Took us an hour and a half to walk through the whole cavern. These are just two of the better pictures we took. It's hard to gauge what you are looking at, unless you've already seen a cavern.
This guy we both agreed looked like a walrus.
To think that water makes its way that far into the ground and then either drips fast or slow to create all of these different formations. That this cavern was actually solid ground at one time, but due to shifts in the earth and some chemical reactions caused the limestone to dissolve...it just blows my mind. Then you have crazy explorers climbing through here, hanging from ropes, just to find out how big it is...crazy. There are more technical terms to what actually took place, but this is my layman's terms, so as to not bore you - hahaha!
Well, we hadn't quite made it to Texas yet, but I'm gonna stop here and post.
I want to thank everyone who has been leaving me comments. I read them all and love hearing from you. I miss you!! Wish you could join me, it's been so much fun so far.
